SMART IELTS – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the SMART IELTS mobile application and related services provided by Study Unifees. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use that information, how long we retain it, when information may be shared, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide IELTS preparation services, including automated scoring, practice tests, and progress tracking.

A. Information You Provide

• Identity Information: full name, date of birth, gender, nationality
• Contact Information: email address and phone number
• Account Credentials: email and password for login
• Users may also choose to sign in using supported third-party authentication providers such as Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In when available.

B. IELTS Practice and Evaluation Data

To provide automated IELTS evaluation features, SMART IELTS collects responses submitted by users during practice sessions.

• Written Responses: essays or written answers submitted for automated writing evaluation
• Audio Recordings: voice recordings captured during speaking practice sessions to analyze pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and coherence

These responses are processed by automated artificial intelligence systems that generate estimated band scores, grammar feedback, pronunciation analysis, and writing improvement suggestions. For speaking evaluation, audio recordings and generated transcripts may be sent to Deepgram for speech-to-text transcription. Written responses, speaking transcripts, prompts, and answer content may be sent to OpenRouter for automated IELTS scoring, corrections, and feedback generation.

C. Automatically Collected Technical Information

• IP address
• Device type and operating system
• Unique device identifiers
• Application usage information, such as time spent in practice modules

D. Mobile App Permissions

The App may request access to certain device features only when required for specific functionality.

• Microphone Access: required for recording speaking practice responses
• Camera or Photo Access: may be used for uploading documents or images where applicable

Permissions can be controlled through your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Deliver practice tests and exercises
• Generate automated band score estimates and provide personalized feedback and learning insights
• Create and manage user accounts and authentication
• Track progress and performance and recommend relevant exercises
• Allow users to explore universities and scholarships through in-app search tools
• Send important service updates and respond to support requests
• Detect suspicious activity and protect the platform and users from misuse

4. In-App Purchases and Payments

SMART IELTS may offer premium features or content through in-app purchases. Payments made through the iOS version of the App are processed through the App Store billing system. Payment transactions are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s payment policies. SMART IELTS does not store your credit card or payment details.

5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data. Information may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: trusted cloud infrastructure providers may host and store application data on our behalf and only process data on our instructions
• Legal Requirements: information may be disclosed if required by law, court order, or regulatory authority
• Deepgram: speaking audio and related speech data may be transmitted for speech-to-text transcription used in IELTS speaking evaluation
• OpenRouter: written responses, speaking transcripts, prompts, and answer content may be transmitted for automated IELTS scoring, corrections, and feedback generation

No responses are shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

• Practice responses and recordings may be stored temporarily for processing and feedback generation
• Account information is retained while your account remains active

Users may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time by contacting support.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication systems, restricted access to internal systems, and secure cloud infrastructure. While we strive to protect your information, no system can guarantee absolute security.

8. Children and Age Requirements

SMART IELTS is intended for users aged 13 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such data has been collected, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your account and associated data, and withdraw consent for certain processing activities. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Users will be notified of significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after updates indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
